Hamilton will have a new Mayor on Sunday - but no one knows who it is yet.

Andrew King and Paula Southgate are almost tied - the former ahead by only 150 votes, 8003 to 7863.

Special votes are yet to be counted, as are votes dropped in to libraries and the Hamilton City Council office this morning.

In the West ward, the provisional votes have Martin Gallagher (7878), Andrew King (7044), Angela O’Leary (6747), Dave MacPherson (6738), Leo Tooman (6185) and Geoff Taylor (4811) winning seats. If Mr King wins the mayoralty, Siggi Henry (4791) will take his place on the ward.

In the East, those elected are Paula Southgate (8524), Rob Pascoe (6052), James Casson (5788), Phillip Yeung (5412), Garry Mallet (4804) and Mark Bunting (4737). If Ms Southgate is elected Mayor, Angela Strange (4240) will take her place.

The rest of the votes should be counted by Saturday night or early Sunday.
