Simon Bridges showed up to a media interview with pie on his face - prompting a new nickname, "Simon the Pieman".
The Economic Development Minister was talking about the Civil Defence emergency facing the country when a journalist alerted him to the piece of pastry on his bottom lip.
He confirmed it was leftover lunch.
"Yeah, sorry I've just had a pie... It was really good"
After a quick wipe, Mr Bridges asked "Is it gone?
He then carried on talking about how concerned he was about Cyclone Cook.
