A branch of Labour's youth wing is handing out free 'Let's do this' condoms to university students.

The Durex condoms were handed out by Christchurch Young Labour, emblazoned with the election slogan coined by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

At the youth wing's stall at the University of Canterbury's Clubs Day, a bowl of the free condoms was displayed alongside a side that reads: 'Let's do this...if we're both keen."

Young Labour Christchurch branch chair Kaitlyn White said the group held a working bee ahead of Clubs Day to put 'Let's do this' stickers on 600 condoms.

They got them for free from a Family Planning clinic and a Canterbury District Health Board sexual health clinic.

Ms White said the condoms were handed out with 'consent cards' that provide advice about consent and respect.

It's unclear whether other Young Labour branches across New Zealand will get on board with the initiative.

At a rival stall at Clubs Day, a branch of National's youth wing - the Young Nats - were giving away free cups and bottle openers.
