Former Labour Party MP John Tamihere is reportedly going to announce his Auckland mayoralty bid on Saturday.
The current Waipareira Trust chief executive is set to hold a press conference on Saturday where he is expected to make the announcement, RNZ reports.
It is thought he will run with ex-National Party MP and former Auckland mayor Christine Fletcher. If he won Ms Fletcher would become his deputy.
Mr Tamihere signalled he may run for the top position last year.
