Security called to gym incident involving minister Stuart Nash

Stuart Nash has been involved in an incident at Parliament's gym that required a security to be called.

Security was called after Mr Nash got into a "loud and uncouth" confrontation between the Police Minister and another gym attendee, NZME reports.

The incident took place on Wednesday last week, and was due to the other gym goer wanting to use equipment that Mr Nash had been on.

Speaker Trevor Mallard was informed of the incident and told NZME Mr Nash had apologised to the other man involved for his "bad language".

Mr Mallard said it was not a serious enough incident for the speaker to get involved, but Mr Nash had informed him of the incident.

Mr Nash downplayed the incident, telling NZME the event was now in the past and both parties involved want to move past it.

He later said through a spokesperson that he was not aware of a formal complaint.

It's not the first time attention has been called to Mr Nash's exploits in the gym. The minister posted video of him lifting 45kg and 50kg barbells in March 2018.

National MP Alfred Ngaro responded with a video of his own showing him lifting 1kg weights.
