As it happened: Health, education and employment officials update on national response to COVID-19

The government is providing an update on the national response to COVID-19 in New Zealand.

It comes as New Zealand prepares for an urgent nationwide lockdown.

The country is currently under a level 3 alert, and will move to level 4 at 11:59pm on Wednesday. All non-essential businesses will close and Kiwis must go into self-isolation.

A standup will be held at 1pm in Wellington and these people will give an update on the situation:

  • Paul Stocks, deputy chief executive MBIE - essential services update
