ACT candidate Stephen Berry resigns due to 'exhaustion' from campaign preparation

An ACT Party candidate and board member has resigned, citing "physical exhaustion".

Stephen Berry announced on Twitter on Sunday afternoon he would step down "effective immediately".

"My preparation for the campaign, has left me physically exhausted. For the sake of my health I won't be taking any further part."

The supermarket manager was ninth on the ACT Party list.

Despite resigning Berry says he fully supports ACT, and looks forward to the Party having more supporters in the house following the September election.

The Tweet has received support from commenters with people congratulating Berry on putting himself first.

"Take it easy Stephen, health is everything," wrote one man.

"Best of luck and good health," said another.
