David Clark has resigned from his position as Minister of Health in an impromptu press conference.
Clark was supposed to be in Palmerston North unveiling new cancer treatment machines, but remained in Wellington on Thursday to make the announcement.
Clark said his resignation has been accepted by the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. The news comes after he was caught breaching COVID-19 Alert Level 4 rules by driving to a beach, mountain biking and moving house.
At the time the Prime Minister said his role in the COVID-19 response was too important for him to resign.
