Finance Minister Grant Robertson gave an update on an extension to the Government's wage subsidy scheme now Auckland and the rest of New Zealand is in alert levels 3 and 2.
He estimated earlier on Monday morning Auckland's two weeks at level 3 will cost the taxpayer about another $1 billion in wage subsidies.
The alert levels are currently in place until at least 11:59pm on Wednesday, August 26.
