Watch: MPs reveal who they want to join their team from the other side

In the final few days before Parliament wraps up ahead of the election, Newshub asked a bunch of MPs who they would like as part of their team from the other side.

Two Green MPs, Jan Logie and Eugenie Sage, said they'd like outgoing National MP Amy Adams, Logie explaining that it's because of Adams' work on progressing sexual violence legislation.

"I really acknowledge her for the work she started around the family violence legislation and that we're getting to pick up and strengthen some good work."

Labour MP Poto Williams couldn't believe she had been asked to say who she'd like from the other side, "My favourite MP from the National Party, are you kidding me?"

But she settled on Adams too.

"Actually, I have to say I'll miss Amy Adams, we played on the parliamentary netball team together and I think she's a real loss to our nation. I wish her all the very best."

Two National MPs, David Carter and Simon O'Connor, said they'd be keen for Labour MP Louisa Wall to join their team - in fact, Carter said she should've been part of the National Party all along.

"She came here with an agenda, honest about it, and has delivered. I've seen her work both domestically and also when I've been overseas with her - remarkable MP. She should've always been a member of the National Party."

Former National Party leader Simon Bridges and National MP Mark Mitchell both said they want Police Minister Stuart Nash from the Labour Party.

But the Labour runs deep in Nash's blood. His great-grandfather was Walter Nash, who served as the 27th Prime Minister of New Zealand in the second Labour Government, from 1957 to 1960.

NZ First MP Ron Mark said he's always liked National Party deputy leader Gerry Brownlee - despite him frequently clashing with his leader Winston Peters in the House.

Peters said he had so many favourite Opposition MPs he couldn't decide.

Labour MPs Chris Hipkins and Phil Twyford didn't say who they would like from the other side, Twyford telling Newshub he'd let us know later and Hipkins flat-out admitting he couldn't think of anyone.

Here's what they said:

Labour MP Deborah Russell

"Ian McKelvie."

Green MP Eugenie Sage

"Amy Adams is pretty good."

National MP Simon Bridges

"Stuart Nash, because you actually know he really wants to be on our side."

National MP Mark Mitchell

"That's right I'd pick Stuart Nash, too. He really wants to be a National MP, so we go with Stuart."

Labour MP Phil Twyford

"Oh, I'd have to think long and hard about that. No one springs to mind, actually, but I'll get back to you on that."

Green MP Jan Logie

"Oh, let me think about that, probably Amy Adams... I really acknowledge her for the work she started around the family violence legislation and that we're getting to pick up and strengthen some good work."

Green MP Julie Anne Genter

"Oh, there's so many to choose from. Sorry, I didn't prepare for that question; I'd have to think about it."

National MP David Carter

"Louisa Wall. She came here with an agenda, honest about it, and has delivered. I've seen her work both domestically and also when I've been overseas with her - remarkable MP. She should've always been a member of the National Party."

National MP Denise Lee

"Paul Eagle. We have a local government background the both of us, he's a laugh, he makes me smile - he's just an all-round good guy."

Labour MP Poto Williams

"My favourite MP from the National Party, are you kidding me? Actually, I have to say I'll miss Amy Adams, we played on the parliamentary netball team together and I think she's a real loss to our nation. I wish her all the very best."

National MP Simon O'Connor

"I get along really well with Louisa Wall. Her and I work quite closely together on foreign affairs and it's worked out really well."

NZ First leader Winston Peters

"There are too many of my favourite politicians across the other side."

NZ First MP Ron Mark

"I wouldn't be proposing anyone join New Zealand First myself, but who do I like and really get along with on the other side? Gerry [Brownlee], yeah I like Gerry."

Labour MP Chris Hipkins

"From the other side of the House? I can't think of any."
