Have your say: Do you support Labour's proposed top tax rate of 39 percent for high-income earners?

Labour has revealed its plan to hike the top tax rate to 39 percent for Kiwis earning above $180,000 if reelected - but do you support it?

Revealing his party's plans on Wednesday, Labour Finance spokesperson Grant Robertson said the new rate would kick in for the top 2 percent of Kiwis.

This represents an extra six cents in the dollar on any income earned above $180,000 - with no impact on any income earned below that.

"The new rate will cost $23 a week for an individual earning $200,000, but it will make a big difference to the country's ability to maintain the investments needed for the economy to bounce back," Robertson said.

"Labour will not implement any new taxes or make any further increases to income tax next term."
