NZ Election 2020: Ikaroa-Rāwhiti electorate contenders face off in The Hui debate

  • 23/09/2020

The contenders for the Ikaroa-Rāwhiti electorate are set to face off in a debate on The Hui on Wednesday night.

Elizabeth Kerekere and Heather Te Au-Skipworth are attempting to evict incumbent Labour MP Meka Whaitiri who has held the seat since 2013.

The Ikaroa-Rāwhiti electorate was formed in 1999 and has been held by Labour ever since.

It extends from the top of the East Cape in the North Island to the Wellington region, including Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and the Wairarapa.

The contenders are set to answer questions from locals and debate host Mihingarangi Forbes about issues in their electorate.

They are trying to prove why they are the best person for the job ahead of New Zealand's 2020 election on October 17.

The debate will begin at 8pm.
