Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is speaking to media after attending the National Iwi Chairs Forum in Whangārei as part of her trip to Northland for Waitangi commemorations.

The National Iwi Chairs Forum recently put forward six recommendations to the Government which they said were a priority for mitigating the risk of COVID-19 for Māori and the general public.

The six recommendations included the Government applying a pre-departure negative test requirement to all travellers intending to enter New Zealand as soon as possible.

The Government has implemented the policy for all arrivals except for those coming from Australia, Antarctica and most Pacific Islands.
