National MP Simon Bridges has penned a short tribute to his dad who died over the weekend.
His 87-year-old father Heath died on Saturday at Tauranga Hospital.
"He was a real character. I love you Dad," he wrote on Facebook.
Fellow National MP Simeon Brown sent his sympathies to Bridges' family.
"My deepest condolences Simon. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family."
Others also shared their condolences with Bridges.
"Very sad to hear of your loss. May your memories bring you comfort and his legacy be your strength. Warmest blessings at this time," one wrote.
"My very deepest and heartfelt sympathy to you and yours Simon. You will have all those wonderful and happy memories you shared with your Dad to sustain you," another said.
"So sorry for your loss Simon and family. He looks like a lovely man and I know will be very missed," a third wrote.
Bridges has previously posted about his father, including a photo of the pair enjoying a Father's Day meal together.
He also shared a family photo after his parents came to one of his public meetings in Tauranga.
"Lucky to have such a supportive family in my corner," he wrote.
