Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield will announce Cabinet's alert level decision at the Beehive.
The entire country has been under Alert Level 4 restrictions for almost two weeks, and so far no cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the South Island.
The Prime Minister has already indicated that Auckland will remain under Alert Level 4 until at least next Tuesday, August 31.
