COVD-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins is joined by Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield to provide an update on the Delta outbreak and vaccine rollout.
Hipkins on Tuesday announced a snap lockdown for the northern part of Northland after contact tracers were unable to link cases of COVID-19 in the Far North to other cases in the region.
Northland has one of the lowest vaccination rates in New Zealand, with just 65 percent of the eligible population fully vaccinated, compared with 81 percent in Auckland.
The Ministry of Health registered 126 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, 107 in Auckland, 18 in Waikato and one in Northland.
Auckland is currently in alert level 3, step 1; parts of Waikato are in alert level 3, step 2; while the rest of New Zealand - except for the Far North - is in alert level 2.
