COVID-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins is providing an update on Omicron cases, the end of vaccine passes and phasing out mandates.

The Government announced last week that from April 4, COVID-19 vaccine passes will no longer be required to enter close contact businesses like hairdressers and restaurants.

In addition, COVID-19 vaccination will no longer be mandatory for teachers and education staff, as well as police and Defence Force workers.

However, mandatory vaccination will remain for health, disability and aged care workers, along with prison and border staff.
