Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern turns flight attendant with engagement announcement

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has turned flight attendant on her Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) flight announcing the engagement of one of the stewards onboard.

Onboard the RNZAF flight after giving the prestigious Harvard University Commencement speech on Friday morning in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Prime Minister turned flight attendant.

Speaking to members of the trade delegation on her trip onboard the flight, the Prime Minister announced the special news.

"Shan who is serving you in the cabin this evening, one of the wonderful flight stewards, whilst in Boston, reconnected with Tyler his US-based partner and became engaged," Ardern said.

"Shan, the warmest of congratulations, we are all so excited for you, the most exciting news of the day. Have a wonderful flight, thank you for sharing such a special moment even if it wasn't volunteering."

The Prime Minister is in the US for a trade and tourism trip to promote New Zealand where she will also have a face-to-face meeting with President Joe Biden at the White House on Tuesday. She will also meet with Vice-President Kamala Harris.
