Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Justice Minister Kiri Allan are speaking to media in Hamilton.
It follows a meeting with the Safest City Taskforce, a joint initiative between the local council and police to make Hamilton the "safest city in New Zealand".
Allan also earlier announced increased penalties for those involved in fleeing driver events.
