Chris Hipkins says he is "humbled and honoured" after he was confirmed as the sole nominee to replace Jacinda Ardern as the leader of the Labour Party and, therefore, the Prime Minister.
The Labour Party caucus will meet at 1pm on Sunday to endorse the nomination and confirm Hipkins as the party's leader.
"It is the biggest privilege of my life," Hipkins told reporters on Saturday in his first media appearance after the news of his nomination was announced earlier.
