Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has told media that she has no doubt she made the right decision when she announced her resignation on Thursday.
"Even though I am, of course, tinged with sadness, I don't doubt the decision."
She said she slept well "for the first time in a long time" on Thursday night and also told reporters she hopes the upcoming Labour leadership contest will be "swift".
