Jenna Lynch analysis: Labour's strategy to tackle bad polling before election 2023

  • 22/08/2023

ANALYSIS: How much of Labour's campaign will be about fear of the other side?

Labour's going to take a two-pronged approach to this, one of which will be to raise concerns about cuts under a right-bloc Government.

The other - focus, focus, focus - is to actually sell its ideas.

The party thinks people need to hear its cost of living policies all packaged up in one parcel and there are a couple more things to add to it.

But the Prime Minister says his party's polling shows only one in three voters know about its big-bang GST off fresh fruit and veg policy.

He's probably only got himself to blame there. He left that one simmering in the headlines all of one whole day before moving on to other announcements.

Labour is wishing on a star that its lack of support is coming from a lack of understanding rather than a lack of electability in the eyes of the public.
