Former Justice Minister Kiri Allan pleads not guilty to refusing to accompany police after crash

Former Justice Minister Kiri Allan has denied allegedly refusing to accompany police after crashing her car on Wellington's Evans Bay Parade.

Allan's case was due to be called in the Wellington District Court on Thursday, though a registrar confirmed to Newshub Allan's counsel entered a not guilty plea on one of her charges of not accompanying police.

Allan's lawyer declined to comment when approached by Newshub.

The registrar said Allan's case has been "administratively" adjourned.

Allan's political career came to a sudden halt in July after she was involved in a car crash in Wellington and charged with careless use of a motor vehicle and refusing to accompany a police officer.

Allan was issued an infringement notice for excess breath alcohol between 250 and 400mcg.

The matter has been remanded to the next available Case Review Hearing on November 10.
