Rugby World Cup 2019: Jordie Barrett set to re-sign with Hurricanes

All Blacks utility Jordie Barrett appears set to reject multiple offers from other Kiwi franchises and stay loyal to the Hurricanes.

Stuff reports Barrett is expected to re-sign with the Wellington-based Hurricanes and New Zealand Rugby as soon as next week.

The Blues, Highlanders and Crusaders were the three teams reportedly interested in acquiring the 22-year-old.

A move to Auckland would have seen the nine-test youngster join older brother Beauden at the Blues, who announced earlier this month he was leaving the Hurricanes on a four-year deal.

At the time, Beauden said his brother was keen to wait until he signed a new deal before making a decision.

Meanwhile, the Highlanders and Crusaders were looking at Barrett to replace experienced departing All Blacks Ben Smith and Ryan Crotty in their respective lineups.

The five Kiwi franchises are expected to announce their rosters for the 2020 Super Rugby season after the Rugby World Cup.

Before signing a new deal, Barrett has the task of playing on the left wing in the All Blacks' first test of 2019 against Argentina in Buenos Aires on Sunday (NZ time).
