Parisse was born in Argentina to Italian parents and played his early rugby with Club Universitario de La Plata, before relocating to the Italian Top12 with champions Benetton Treviso.

He played 265 games with Stade Francais in France and is currently contracted to Toulon.

The Italian captain debuted for the national team in 2002 and is now generally recognised as one of the finest exponents of his position in world rugby. He was twice nominated for International Player of the year, 2008 and 2013 - the first Italian to achieve this.

Parisse has already played at three Rugby World Cup tournaments and will contest his fourth in Japan.
