Rugby World Cup 2019: Anton Lienert-Brown (New Zealand)

  • 04/04/2019

Born: April 19, 1995 in Christchurch

Position: Centre, second-five

Club: Chiefs

Height: 1.85m

Weight: 96kg

Caps: 38

New Zealand's best midfield back, yet he may not start in Japan.

That remains to be seen, but what we do know is he can cover 12 as efficiently as he plays 13. Breaks tackles, makes tackles and his option-taking is world class.

Crazy to think 'ALB' is only 24-years-old and has only been involved in that national setup for a couple of seasons.

He was called into the All Blacks squad for the 2016 Rugby Championship, as injury cover for Sonny Bill Williams - he made his debut in Wellington against the Wallabies a few weeks later.

While he has never established himself as the undisputed No.12 or 13, Lienert-Brown has been the most consistent midfielder in New Zealand rugby for 24 months.

He seems an absolute certainty to feature in some capacity, come the business end of the tournament.
