Rugby World Cup 2019: Spark mistake sees Samoan flag confused with Tonga

Spark has apologised again over its coverage of the Rugby World Cup, after another blunder during a game.

The Samoan flag was confused with the flag of Tonga, shown in the pre-match coverage of Russia v Samoa on TVNZ on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Spark Sport tweeted it was "sorry" for the mistake.

"We let TVNZ know as soon as we were made aware, so that they can make sure it doesn't happen again."

The latest blunder follows the streaming of Saturday night's first All Blacks World Cup match, which was plagued with periods of reduced video quality, such as pixelation and buffering.

All of Sunday's matches were simulcast on TVNZ's Duke channel as a result.

Social media users were quick to identify Tuesday night's mistake.

"I know u guys [sic] busy trying to suss your streaming challenges, but that's no our Samoan flag. That's the flag of Tonga," one Twitter user said.

"Is it really that hard to distinguish the difference between Samoa and Tonga let alone their flags[?]" another wrote.
