Rugby World Cup 2019: Dan Carter gives insight into his mindset before 2015 knockout matches

Two-time Rugby World Cup winner Dan Carter has given fans an insight into his thoughts as he prepared for the 2015 World Cup semi-final. 

Carter took to Instagram to reveal what he was thinking ahead of the final two games of his career. 

In his post he noted before the semi-final against South Africa:

- Feeling pretty nervous, this is what I was born to do!

- Disciplined thinking

- Process, process, process, nail each task

- Smile 

The All Blacks went on to win that game 20-18, Carter scoring 12 himself.

Ahead of the final against Australia he wrote:

- Stay in the moment, huge now focus - Process

- Keep looking

- Talk, talk, talk

- Have fun 

Whatever he did, it worked, the All Blacks went on to win the final 34-17 over Australia.

Carter kicked a near-perfect six out of seven and nailed a drop goal in his Man of the Match performance to help the All Blacks to their second-straight title. 

He also wrote in his Instagram post: "I wrote these entries before some of the most important matches of my career. Wishing my All Blacks brothers the best today."
