Two-time Rugby World Cup winner Dan Carter has given fans an insight into his thoughts as he prepared for the 2015 World Cup semi-final.
Carter took to Instagram to reveal what he was thinking ahead of the final two games of his career.
In his post he noted before the semi-final against South Africa:
- Feeling pretty nervous, this is what I was born to do!
- Disciplined thinking
- Process, process, process, nail each task
The All Blacks went on to win that game 20-18, Carter scoring 12 himself.
Ahead of the final against Australia he wrote:
- Stay in the moment, huge now focus - Process
- Keep looking
- Talk, talk, talk
- Have fun
Whatever he did, it worked, the All Blacks went on to win the final 34-17 over Australia.
Carter kicked a near-perfect six out of seven and nailed a drop goal in his Man of the Match performance to help the All Blacks to their second-straight title.
He also wrote in his Instagram post: "I wrote these entries before some of the most important matches of my career. Wishing my All Blacks brothers the best today."
