  • 14/09/2023

Kia ora and welcome to Newshub’s live coverage of the World Cup pool clash between France and Uruguay at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille.

Hot off their impressive win over the All Blacks in last weekend’s tournament opener, the hosts will enter their next pool A contest highly favoured to make light work of the South Americans.

The French will rest the majority of their key players against Uruguay, who will have the chance to make a lasting first impression in their debut at the 2023 tournament.

Uruguay's last appearance at the pinnacle event in 2019 was highlighted by a last-gasp upset win over Fiji, although they ultimately lost all three of their remaining pool games.

The last time these two sides locked horn on a rugby field was all the way back in 1960 during France's tour of Argentina and Uruguay, when the visitors recorded a 59-0 win.
