Entries have opened for an annual awards ceremony celebrating rural women in New Zealand.

The NZI Rural Women NZ Business Awards 2019 will be held in November in Wellington, with entries open until the end of July.

RWNZ National President, Fiona Gower, said the awards were a great way to shine the spotlight on rural women.

"The NZI Rural Women NZ Business Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate and showcase excellence in business, entrepreneurship and innovation by rural women," she said.

Awards sponsor NZI said it was happy to continue supporting the awards.

"Following the success of the Awards in 2018, NZI is proud to work alongside RWNZ to grow the Awards and introduce two exciting new categories which focus on rural health and food and beverage," said NZI National Manager - Rural, Jon Watson.

"A total of seven category Awards will be offered with a supreme award winner selected from the winner of each category," he said.

Meanwhile Gower is encouraging as many rural women as possible to enter.

"If you know a woman running a business in a rural area, encourage her to enter these awards," she said.

"In addition to the prizes, the awards are an excellent way for rural women to promote their businesses and attract media coverage."

Entries close on Wednesday, July 31.

Presentation of the awards to the category winners and the announcement of the supreme award winner will take place on Friday, November 22 in Wellington.
