Cost of firearms register better spent on rural policing, says farming group

Federated Farmers says the money which would be spent on a proposed firearms register would be better spent on boosting the number of police in rural areas.

The Government announced the second tranche of proposed gun law changes on Monday.

However Federated Farmers is concerned at the idea of a gun register and shortening the gun licensing period

Rural security spokesman Miles Anderson joined Magic Talk's Rural Exchange on Saturday.
