Top dairy farmer welcomes farm waste proposals

New ideas to tackle on-farm waste have been welcomed by one of the country's top dairy farmers.

The Government's proposal would see companies forced to take responsibility for their products' life-cycle.

It would also establish a regulated stewardship scheme for some "priority products", including agrichemical containers and farm plastics.

New Zealand Dairy Woman of the Year, Trish Rankin told Magic Talk's Rural Exchange that it was an issue she was passionate about, having completed a research programme on the subject of farm waste.
