Police name man killed on Hawke's Bay orchard

Police have released the name of the man who died in a workplace accident on a rural property in Napier.

Emergency services were called to the orchard property in Meeanee on Thursday afternoon.

In a statement, power company Unison said they had de-energised the lines after receiving reports of a person receiving an electric shock.

It said the person had come into contact with a Unison overhead 33kV feeder (known as the Awatoto Tie) 

Police said the man who died was 57-year-old Falaniko Ah Lin of Napier.

Hawke's Bay Today reported that the man was an orchard worker.

Police said Worksafe and the Coroner had been advised of the death.
