Coronavirus: Dairy farmers' touching COVID-19 message to New Zealand

Dairy farmers have delivered a message of support and reassurance to New Zealanders during the COVID-19 crisis, in a video which has been shared thousands of times on social media.

The video features farmers from across the country, along with industry leaders.

"Our dairy farmers are extremely proud to continue supplying the country with food as an essential service during this time, and they have a message for the rest of New Zealand," said the accompanying text.

The video includes messages from farmers and their families.

"Dear, New Zealand, we know that things are really tough out there, people are concerned about their health and the health of their loved ones," it said.

"People are worried about the economy and when things will get back to normal."

It called for everyone to work together.

"Let's flatten this curve and stop this disease spreading.

"We are trusting you to stay at home and keep our country safe - we are following the rules too. We are all in this together."

It also offered reassurance about the supply of food during the lockdown.

"You don't need to worry about supermarkets getting low on food, there's plenty to go around for everyone.

"We have strong supply lines, and we are all working hard to keep food on the table. You can count on us to keep calm and carry on farming."
