Rural markets 'quiet and easing' post COVID-19

Stock prices continue to ease due to the impact of COVID-19 and drought conditions in parts of the country, says a rural market expert.

Heartland Bank head of livestock, Wayne McEntee told Rural Exchange while the markets were relatively stable, they have come back.

He said prime lamb was fetching around $6.20 a kilo in the South Island while prices were between $6.40-$6.50 in the North Island.

Store cattle and lamb prices were also easing, wth cattle in the $2.50-$2.70 range and lamb between $2.50-$2.60.

"Markets are definitely easing," said Mcntee.
