A bovine botch-up is causing havoc on Hamilton roads.

Police and the public are rounding up calves on Avalon Drive after they fell from a truck around 1:30pm on Wednesday.

Officials are now diverting traffic, hoping to avoid spooking the cows.

The animals have now strayed onto private property, police said.
