Former sharemilker of the year Enda Hawe says when it comes to handling mastitis it's important to have the right teat spray.
"When it comes to dry off, I like to dry the cows down quite hard," Hawe told Rural Exchange.
"I minimise the green feed and substitute with straw so it reduces the quantity of milk flow and make sure that I get that teat spray on there."
Hawe, along with Kip Bodle, chief executive of Deosan, a supplier and manufacturer of animal products, spoke to Rural Exchange.
