Interest in rural property surges as expats eye up moving home

More expats are eyeing up moving home, if website data from Bayleys is anything to go by.

Ben Turner from Bayleys in Christchurch says the company saw "good activity" during the lockdown, with more interest coming from overseas.

"We've certainly seen a huge increase in website traffic, particularly from offshore," Turner told Rural Today. 

Overseas visits to Bayleys' webpage jumped from around 14 percent to 45-50 percent, he says.

"The majority of those are expats."
