After serving on the board for two terms, Jessie Chan is set to be the first female chair of a major New Zealand agribusiness co-operative, when she becomes the Ruralco's chair this month.
She says she was originally attracted to working for co-ops because "it's basically about farmers having a collective problem that we want to solve and working together to solve it".
"I've been involved in a range of different cooperatives as a shareholder and I believe they deliver for our rural community," she told Rural Exchange.
