Opportunities to support local agricultural businesses while also making a good return are increasing as New Zealand's private investor market becomes more mature, says Ross Verry, chief executive of private markets investment company Syndex.

"There are lots of good New Zealand businesses out there," Verry told Rural Exchange.

"I think we're starting to see more and more of these opportunities and we're starting to see a number of funds being set up to try and help these businesses recognise that the New Zealand private economy - and farming is a big part of that - is just going to be an absolute key to New Zealand's economic recovery and success into the future.

"I think we've already known that but now is the time and the opportunity to support them and benefit through good returns."
