'Uncertainty prevails' in livestock market

Cold, windy and dry conditions are taking their toll on the livestock market, according to Wayne McEntee, Heartland Bank's head of livestock.

"Generally across the country, feed levels are pretty low for this time of the calendar and that's reflecting in the market," McEntee told Rural Exchange.

"No one's brimming with confidence, uncertainty still prevails so people are less likely to go for that long-term cattle.

"Anything that is light or crossbred, people are shying away from."
