Protesters from animal rights group PETA stood out in front of the Beehive on Thursday, calling for consumers to boycott cows' milk.

Activists said it was unnatural for humans to drink cows' milk and urged them to opt for dairy-free options instead.

"Cows don't make milk because they're cows but because they're mothers, and they grieve when their babies are taken away," PETA spokesperson Laura Weyman-Jones said on Thursday.

"It's absurd for any human to guzzle the mammary secretions of another species, and PETA urges everyone to leave cows' milk for the calves and opt for delicious, sustainable, and ethical dairy-free milk instead."

The protesters were dressed up as giant babies and carried signs that said "Not your mum? Not your milk!" and "Cows' milk is for baby cows".
