Drones to be banned from flying over your house

New drone regulations come into effect on August 1.

The new rules mean drones won't be able to fly over people's properties without the property owner's consent, but there will be no rules around personal privacy.

Barrister Stephen Iorns has been looking into the privacy implications and the Civil Aviation regulations and joined Paul Henry this morning.

"There aren’t that many complaints. The Privacy Commission has only received one complaint to date. The general privacy laws do apply, it doesn’t matter what the technology is, and the general rules are the same."
