Australian surfer Mick Fanning has made a miraculous escape after he was attacked by a shark at a televised surfing competition in South Africa.
The three-time world champion was approached by two sharks when one knocked him off his board.
Luckily, Fanning fought back and escaped uninjured. Shark scientist Riley Elliot, who was watching the incident on live television, joined Paul Henry this morning to discuss how "primitive human instinct" often kicks in when danger is near.
