Whoa, How Good is Breaking Bad!? An Article Seven Years Too Late

I haven't had a sick day in a very long time. But then all of a sudden I found myself stuck indoors, near death. So I thought to myself, I should watch Breaking Bad. Remember that? I was late to the party. But better late than never.

It turns out Breaking Bad first came out a whole seven years ago. Seven years ago! Why did I avoid it? I think I didn't think it was my thing. I was totally wrong.

A lemon drink on hand and I settled in for season one.

Doesn't jump out at you, does it?

I found it all a bit dreary, a bit bleak, a bit slow. But as you will know, Breaking Bad is a slow burner. And as the geek turns bad, there is no turning your eyeballs away from it.

Breaking Bad is drenched in domestic drama. It's delicious. The characters are all so wonderful and awful all at once.

It's the perfect way to spend a sick day and it's SO SATISFYING to see all that drug money stacking up.

It's the stuff dreams are made of!

Before long I had ravaged my way through four whole seasons of Breaking Bad, and I'm ploughing through the last series with my heart in my throat.

A few things to note:

1. There is one character I really hated. That drug king pin Gus. I just hated him. I was so relieved (*spoiler alert*) when he finally died.

2. Also, what about Walt Jr? He's such a lovely actor. But why does his character get no story line? And - where does he fit all that breakfast?

I'm repeating stuff you already know. But give me a break! This is all new to me! I'm watching one of the most exciting TV shows of all time with virgin eyes.

I haven't been transported by a TV show since Six Feet Under. That's another must watch for your next sick day.
