Anne Tolley: Child deaths 'not on my watch'

New Zealand's child death statistics are appalling, with six children killed in suspicious circumstances so far this year.

That statistic is equal to the number of children under 15 who were killed last year.

On average, one dies every five weeks - it's easy to rattle off these stats, but these are not just stats – these are our children.

Minister for Social Development Anne Tolley joined Paul Henry this morning to discuss what the Government is doing to tackle family violence.
