David Farrier Joins the Tinderpocalypse

Earlier today, the popular dating app Tinder got quite worked up online about an article in Vanity Fair.

The Vanity Fair piece, with the slightly sensationalist headline of 'Tinder and the Dawn of the Dating Apocalypse', described a lot of young Americans having casual sex, using online services such as Tinder and OKCupid.

Someone running the Tinder Twitter account clearly took offence at the article, tweeting a series of 33 tweets over a three-and-a-half hour period.

Eventually Tinder responded to media questions about the incident, saying:

"We have a passionate team that truly believes in Tinder. While reading a recent Vanity Fair article about today's dating culture, we were saddened to see that the article didn't touch upon the positive experiences that the majority of our users encounter daily."

"Our intention was to highlight the many statistics and amazing stories that are sometimes left unpublished, and, in doing so, we overreacted."

Newsworthy's David Farrier signed up for Tinder to do some more research about it.
