The annual National Business Review Rich List is out, with familiar names like Hart, Todd, Myers and Fay once again at the top.
But there's also some newcomers to our wealthiest roll call.
NBR editor Duncan Bridgeman says there's no denying the biggest driver of wealth over the last few years has been property speculation.
"Most of them on the Rich List have property holdings. It's part of their portfolio."
New Zealand's richest man, Graeme Hart, added $2 billion to his personal wealth.
"It becomes a bit of a drug-like intoxication," Mr Bridgeman says of getting wealthy.
