14yo Kiwi girl the next Scott Dixon?

She's 14, an aspiring champion, and says there aren't enough women in her sport.

Amy Smith is a promising race car driver, enjoying her first year in an open-wheeled race car.

Even though she's among the country's top female drivers, in a sport largely dominated by men, she would like to see more young girls following in her footsteps.

Amy is keen, committed and, above all, she enjoys it. How else could you describe someone who'll carry on driving at 150km/h in a hailstorm?

Amy has been behind the wheel since the age of five and has experienced her fair share of success.

She's now emulating her hero, Scott Dixon, in a class of new racing – one she says will take a few seasons to get used to.
