Should we use an environmentally friendly cleaning option or a traditional washing powder which, according to the hype, may contain chemicals that are harmful to both us and the environment?
There's many cleaning products out there claiming to be eco-friendly but do any of them actually work?
Consumer NZ CEO Sue Chetwin says some of them do, but many don't.
Chetwin says over the course of testing laundry balls and soap nuts, they found some which claim to have no detergents yet still wash your clothes.
The verdict? They don't clean your clothes any better than if you'd just used water.
